Ricardo Amorín is Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Cavendish Laboratory (Department of Physics) of the University of Cambridge and the Kavli Institute for Cosmology (KICC). He received BSc. in Astronomy at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (Argentina) in 2003, and a MSc and PhD in Physics at the Universidad de La Laguna in 2005 and 2008, respectively. During his PhD studies he worked on the characterization of Blue Compact Dwarf host galaxies, at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC, Spain) as Astrofísico  Residente (IAC PhD Fellow). From 2008 to 2012 he was GTC-Consolider Postdoctoral Fellow at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (Granada, Spain). From 2013 to 2016 he was ASTRODEEP Postdoctoral Fellow at the INAF Osservatorio Astronomic di Roma (Italy) prior to the appointment at the University of Cambridge.

Research Interests

• Star forming dwarf galaxies through cosmic time
• Chemical abundances and ionization properties of galaxy nebulae
• Morphological structure, gas content, and kinematics of star-forming galaxies
• Large and deep multiwavelength surveys: imaging and spectroscopy
• Observational cosmology- First galaxies and reionization
• Massive stars and interstellar medium: Supernovae and GRB host galaxies
