The President of the Italian Republic has knighted Roberto Maiolino, Director of the Kavli Institute and Professor of Experimental Astrophysics at the Cavendish
Laboratory, in the Order of the Star of Italy.

The honour was given in recognition of his achievements in multiple areas of astrophysics, his contributions to major international projects and for promoting collaborations, at the highest levels, between Italian researchers and the British and international scientific communities.

The knighthood was given by the Italian Ambassador (pictured on the left), on behalf of the Italian President, during a ceremony, which took place at the Embassy in London.
